Who doesn't want to help save the world? I know that we all try to do our best to recycle and skip out on the plastic straws, but why not #treatyoself (or your friends and family) this holiday season to something a little more bojuee.
Don't worry, I'm not about to ask you to only wear clothing made of hemp. Instead, just make a few tiny switches here and there to maybe use a little less plastic in your life. You'll be surprised at how simple it is!
Did you know that one plastic straw can take up to 200 years to decompose? So imagine all of the straws that you've ever used in your entire life. Not even the first one you've ever used has decomposed yet. It really does make you think about what you're using and the impact you have on the planet -- even after you're gone.
I never really realized how much plastic I used until I started educating myself on the impact it has on the planet. Every time I go to a restaurant? That's one or two plastic straws. Get takeout? Yep, there are some plastic utensils in the bag even though I'm going to eat it with my own forks and knives at home. And going to the grocery store? Even though I made a conscious effort to always bring reusable bags to carry my stuff in, I still would end up using at least a few plastic bags for all of my fresh produce.
All of the products that I'm recommending are under $15, which in my opinion, is very very affordable and very very worth it.
- Reusable produce bags
- Reusable water bottle
- Glass storage jars
- Metal drinking straws
- Bamboo toothbrush
- Cloth makeup remover pads
- Bamboo hairbrush
- Bamboo travel utensils
- Tampico fiber dish brush
- Bamboo reusable kitchen towels
- Reusable sandwich/snack bags
- Bento lunch box
- Reusable shopping totes
- Reusable k-cup for Keurig
And lastly, donate your time or money to any organization that you (or your friends and family members) feel passionate about. Even if you have to skip your Starbucks order for a week, it will mean so much to the people that you are donating to. If everyone took the time to donate even $5 a month, it could have such a huge impact on the world.
Ps: Most, if not all, of these items are available through Amazon Prime. If you don't have it yet, try it free for 30 days. Use that 2-day shipping and you'll be stocked up for the holidays in no time!
