Hey y'all!
Last week, I shared that a big goal of mine in 2021 is to save more money. Although I'm not the type to drop big bucks on clothing, I definitely find myself scrolling on Instagram boutiques in my free time. (Speaking of - shoutout to my bestie girl, Julia, for opening her own shop @shopmylumina)
Capsule Wardrobe: The term has come to refer to a collection of clothing that is composed of interchangeable items only, to maximise the number of outfits that can be created. The aim is to have an outfit suitable for any occasion without owning excessive items of clothing. This is usually achieved by buying what are considered to be "key" or "staple" items in coordinating colours.
* these items are next on my purchase list!
A big part of a capsule wardrobe is having a few basic pieces in neutral colors that can be dressed up or down with accessories. The three tops I picked up at Madewell are super comfortable and were a major steal at 3 for $45!
I also recommend investing in real denim. Although jeggings are super comfy, I find that denim lasts far longer in between washes and doesn't wear out in the knees. If you're looking for a distressed pair, these are my all-time favorite jeans.
For my birthday in December, my mom got me my first pair of ~new~ lululemon leggings! I've had a pair of cropped and flare yoga pants from Poshmark, but never brand new! I've heard such good things about Aligns for everyday wear, even though I know they will eventually pill. Solid black leggings are a great staple in any gals closet, and lulus are just the ultimate goal. I plan on wearing them for lounging and to my office job - yay business casual with an emphasis on casual! If you're looking for a more affordable option, these are supposedly super similar!
Did you know that the average lifespan of a bra is between 9 months to a year? Maybe it's time to finally toss my bras from highschool...😅 Another part of my closet revamp is new bras. I hate anything with heavy padding or underwire. I've heard great things about these bras and for the price tag, I'm definitely going to try them out for myself!
So what's next on my list? Here are some of my ideas!
- Utility jacket
- Shacket/Blazer
- Cardigan
- Matching Sweat Set
- Basic Pullover
- Longneck Tees
- Tanks/layering tops
