My Favorite Skincare Products for Acne-Prone Skin

Hey y'all!

I used to know nothing about skincare. Although I'd pick at my skin in the mirror, I never really took care of my skin in a way that would have helped heal it.

I've done a few posts on skincare routines

But the skincare world is always changing, so it's fun to try out new products!

I would describe my skin as acne-prone, sensitive and combination. I have some scarring and redness from previous acne. Now that I treat my skin as the precious gem that it is, I really only get one or two small breakouts at a time on my face. And they seem to go away within a few days!

I thought I'd share with you some of my holy grail skincare products for acne-prone skin!

Let me start out by saying I use a lot of Mad Hippie products. They're vegan with clean ingredients. The line itself is targeted towards older skin, so the anti-aging effects are AMAZE for even our 20-year-old faces. You can also grab a kit here with all the goodies and save some $$ while doing it.

1. Cleanser - Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser (AM+PM)

Cleansers should leave your face feeling clean, but not tight. If you're currently using a product that makes you feel like you just got a face-lift, then you're probably stripping some of the good oils that your skin needs. Try switching to something a little more gentle!

I like this product because it has a pump and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth.

2. Serum - Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum (AM)

Vitamin C Serum can be used to help protect from premature aging. So if you don't have wrinkles yet and don't want them, add this cult favorite into your skincare routine. It can also aide in diminishing dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

I apply in the morning after cleansing and press the product into my skin. Then if I'm feeling really boujee (which I usually am, let's be honest), I'll follow up by using my rose quartz roller!

Don't let the cheap price tag throw you off. This stuff ROCKS! I've only been using it for a week, but I already notice a difference in my skin. This product is great for exfoliating, so if you have pesky little bumps that aren't quite pimples, but never really go away, RUN and get this product!

I also use these re-useable rounds when applying this to my face. They're super affordable and come with a cute little bag that you can just throw in your washer!

Make sure you wear sunscreen every day when you use this product! It's no joke.

4. Moisturizer - Mad Hippie Face Cream (PM)

I'm only recommending a PM moisturizer because I have yet to find a lightweight one for day use that I love, so leave me a recommendation if you have one!

This cream leaves my skin feeling dewy and glowy when I wake up the next morning. If I forget this step, there's always a noticeable difference! If you were to try one product out of all of these, this would be my recommendation!

5. Eye Cream - Mad Hippie Eye Cream (PM)

I recently used up the last of my bottle, so you know it's a goodie! This was my first time using an eye cream, and I can now say that I understand the hype. It feels like I'm at a spa when I lay in bed with it under my eyes!

I'm considering trying out The Ordinary Caffeine Solution next, so if you want an update on that, be sure to let me know!

xo,
Sarah
