Sorority Rush Week Essentials

Hey y'all!

Sorority recruitment is coming up sooner than I know it. At least at Alabama!

Although a lot of schools vary, UA always has their recruitment week before the semester starts. I personally am happy about that because then you don't have to focus on anything else except rush.

It's such an exhausting week, but it's also one of the most exciting weeks of your life!

large tote : I recommend using an insulated cooler bag because that way you can keep your water bottle cold, your phone won't get overheated, and your makeup won't melt. Plus you won't mind if it gets a little dirty, which it will, because FYI : you're going to be sitting in the grass a lot.

If you do decide to use a Longchamp, tie a ribbon or attach a luggage tag to your bag. So many girls use this brand of bag, so it's hard to tell which one is yours, especially if you're already trying to run to the next house.

portable charger : Although you won't really have a ton of time to spend on your phone, I definitely recommend taking a charger with you. I typed all of my notes down about each house, and I think I would have struggled to actually write down all of the information in such a short amount of time. Don't risk having your phone die!

mini umbrella : Sometimes weather can be unpredictable. You don't want to be running through the rain and ruining your makeup (mostly because you won't have time to fix it), so just be smart and prepared!!

water bottle : Fill it up with as much ice as possible in the morning, because I guarantee you it will melt so fast. I think we can all agree that warm water isn't as refreshing as cold water, so you won't be as inclined to drink it. Stay hydrated, ladies.

snacks : Of course this is all personal preference but I recommend thinks that won't melt or get gross in the heat. For example : granola bars, pretzels, goldfish, chips, etc.

sunglasses : If you have an expensive pair that you can't live without, then by all means wear them. I'm typically a person who can misplace or break things if I'm not being careful, so I used a cheaper pair of sunglasses so that way it didn't' matter if I lost them or broke them. Spoiler : I did.

portable fan : This was my biggest regret of not having for recruitment. You seriously need it. Especially the ones with a mister, they'll cool you down so much better.

paper + pen : As I mentioned earlier, you really don't want to be without your phone because writing things down takes more time. BUT if you are super unlucky and do have to write something down, be sure to always have a little notepad and pen on hand. Having a pen is also super helpful in case you have to sign a form or something!

makeup bag : This is an obvious one, and again, all of the things you chose to put in it will be personal preference. I

In your makeup bag, I recommend
  • setting spray
  • setting powder + brush
  • mirror
  • hairbrush
  • hairspray
  • deodorant / perfume
  • mints / gum
  • bandaids

  1. OMG girl, you nailed it on the portable fan suggestion. I didn't have one for my rush week and I legit thought I was going to die.

The only other time I sweat that much was when I thought I saw Justin Bieber walking down the street. LOL.

    Great tips girlie!!!

  2. I have never been to college, but I do agree about the tote and the portable charger. I'm a bag lady, I just stuff everything I can in it.
