Hey y'all!

I'm back with another newborn/baby care favorite post! It's so fun reflecting on the products I used for E when he was just a tiny little baby. And it's so fun to now be able to share those favorites with my friends who are expecting soon!

I always have to mention that I really recommend looking for things second-hand when possible! Most of the sleepsacks we got were thrifted or from GoodBuyGear. GBG is an online store where you can purchase thousands of baby items that are used, new, or even open box! If you use my link to sign up, you'll receive $25 toward your first purchase of $50 or more. (full disclosure, I'll also earn a $25 store credit - thank you for supporting me!)

Grooming Products

My number one must-have in terms of grooming products for a baby is the electric nail file. We took it in our hospital bag which I'm so glad we did! Newborn baby's nails are SO long but also so thin that it's easy to cut their skin with regular clippers. We still use it on his nails now at 2.5!

Unless your baby has tons of hair, you don't necessarily need a brush for a while. We really liked this set for when he had enough hair to tame.

Every baby needs to supplement, especially breastfed babies, vitamin D. You can just place a drop on your nipple or bottle tip before feeding.

Burp cloths are another essential. We bought two packs and that was more than enough for us! I prefer the muslin ones since they're soft and large.

Bath Time

E had really sensitive skin, so we tried quite a few products until we found the best one for him. We even went to a dermatologist at one point, and he said he liked the ingredients in this baby shampoo. We also used their lotion. Whenever he has an eczema flare-up, VaniCream is our go-to for locking in moisture and helping soothe bumpy skin.

We used this tub for a long time as our bathtub! It's nice because it has a removable sling so it can be used from early newborn days until they're wanting to stand up on their own (or splashing way too much like in our case). I do really like the idea of the Angel Care tub insert, but in our experience, babies like to poop in the bath....

I prefered muslin washcloths, especially these because they're nice and large to drape over your baby's tummy to help keep them warm in the tub.

Be warned, your baby will likely get "baby acne" and cradle cap. The world is much harsher on our baby's sensitive skin, so it's totally normal for it to freak out. If you're breastfeeding, milk is great to dab on their acne. Otherwise, we really liked the Tubby Todd All Over Ointment. We also used it for his cradle cap in combination with this brush set.

Sick Days

When it comes to sick days, I hope you don't have many! But you'll want a few things on hand so that you're not scrambling at night waiting for your Target pick-up order in the morning. You'll need a thermometer that has a rectal option.

For a snotty nose, we love the Snot Sucker with saline spray. As gross as it sounds, it freaking works. I also love boogie wipes. Before being a mom, I thought wipes specifically for wiping my kids snotty nose would be a waste of money. But then I saw how quickly his nose would get red and irritated from regular tissues. So we ALWAYS have them on hand now and he lets me actually wipe instead of running away.

It's also good to have a humidifier on hand. This is the one we currently have BUT I plan on purchasing this option for the second baby because it's dishwasher safe.

Even if you don't end up using it, I recommend having Gripe Water on hand. There's nothing worse than your baby screaming and crying but you've tried everything you can think of to help soothe them. This was MAGIC for us. It's supposed to help with gas, teething pain, hiccups, and colic. Maybe it was just the blur of newborn days, but both my husband and I believe that it helped soothe E during super fussy spells.

Another thing to keep on hand? The Windi Gas Passer. Real talk, babies can get gas pain or stopped up, because they're BABIES! They've never really had to poop or toot on their own in the world. Follow the instructions on the box, but be warned, it's messy. I recommend having a puppy pad underneath your baby so you can just throw it away after.

I think one of the things that surprised me was how wide the range for a baby to get their first tooth is! But when it's coming, you'll know. We really liked this teething oil to put on E's gums to help relieve some of the pain he was feeling.
