DIY Donut Canvas

Hey y'all!

June 5th is actually National Donut Day! Personally, I love donuts. They taste delicious, can be eaten any time of the day, and even make adorable decor. So order your giant donut pool float, put on your favorite donut tank and let's get crafting!

Here are the things you will need to make this canvas:

  • → 1 white canvas
  • → white chalk
  • → ballpoint pen
  • → glue / mod podge
  • → aqua/teal colored paint
  • → magenta colored paint
  • → paint brushes (one thick and one thin)
Step 1 - Start by completely painting your white canvas using a thick brush. You can use whatever color you want, but I chose to use teal. Make sure to cover all of your edges. Place canvas aside and wait for it to dry.

Step 2 - Open up a document file using landscape mode. Select a font and type out your phrase. Be sure to center your saying as this will make the transferring process much easier. I used this font at size 175. Print document.

Step 3 - Find the donut clip art you would like to use. I typed in "Simpson's pink donut" and used this for my canvas. Size it to the correct size for your canvas. Print document.

Step 4 - If needed, add a second coat of paint to the canvas. If not, you may begin transferring the phrase. I am reusing this method because I find it the easiest. Begin by coloring the back of your text with white chalk. Then flip over and line up text onto the canvas. Use a ballpoint pen to trace the outline of your phrase.

Step 5 - Color in your letters on your canvas using a thin paintbrush. I chose to use a magenta color.

Step 6 - Cut and glue down donut in center of canvas

And there you have it! Not only is this DIY decoration super easy, but it's totally Tumblr worthy.
